NEVER SURRENDER THE VISION
To ‘never surrender the vision’ is one of the most significant challenges facing people and the collective in these times. Challenging not only because is it one of the most important principles of actualising change, but also because it demands that we ask “What is my vision for my life?”
For many people the process of asking ‘what do I want’ and considering how to make changes in their lives can bring feelings that are anything but comfortable. The question itself will often be answered with ‘feeling at peace’ or ‘having love in my life’ or something of a similar nature. Commonly, these types of responses will tend to oppose the discomfort that can arise when confronted with the prospect of making changes that support manifesting a vision. It is very likely also that the honest answer to the question requires a deeper view than the immediate answer.
Human beings are supremely creative and many expressions of human creativity have brought tremendous benefit to people. The vast majority of creative advances in human culture and society begin with good intentions of improving life conditions. But it is also true that our creative developments have also been carried forward in a way that has caused much of the degradation of our world. Creativity is not at issue, in fact it is required if we are to change for the better. After all, if we had the power to create the mess we are in, we equally have the power to change it. Therefore we must individually and as a collective, identify and own the vision that shows solutions to the many and diverse problems we are facing. We must also see that it is possible to accomplish these solutions. If we can see this is so, we must have the courage to begin to create those solutions now, even if it does feels like an overwhelming task.
What is this discomfort that we feel when confronted with an honest answer to the question of our vision, or the resolution of challenges we face individually or collectively?
It is natural energy law that energy will always follow the path of least resistance. This is easily observable in the flow of water. This gives rise to the concept of ‘to go with the flow’. However, this concept will often be applied in order to protect our comfort zone. We will tend to prioritise by ‘feel good’ factors, such that the path of least resistance is interpreted as the path of greatest ease. This attitude will overlook the underlying structure that determines the path of least resistance. The path of greatest ease will be the path of greatest familiarity, and flowing along this path will not bring change.
That structure determines the path of least resistance is easily observable in the flow of water. River banks will determine the path of a rivers flow. In a human being, the underlying structure is less obvious when considering how energy will move in the path of manifesting our visions.
Structure represents the way something is put together, how the fundamental parts, the separate elements make up a whole form, Each element of a structure is related to another element in the complete form, and each supports the function of the whole system, such that it holds together. Every element within the whole bears a part of the structural tension that maintains the form’s integrity. In a bridge or a building, this is easy to understand, but what is the structural tension at play within a human being?
While the physical structure of skeleton, tendons, muscles, veins and organs within the profoundly complex human anatomy upholds the physical structure. But this only addresses the physical element. Our whole system also includes emotions, spiritual beliefs, our thoughts and world-views. Therefore when we ask “What do I want?” within the construct of our whole self, the discomfort we may experience is the structural tension that exists within our whole make up, all elements of which are equal in maintaining the ‘whole’ of our existence. Therefore, the discomfort that we may feel is, in fact, the structural tension that is important to sustaining our integrity.
It is also natural energy law that all tension seeks resolution. When confronted with the tension that our vision stimulates, we will often seek the resolution through previous experiences that we know worked to gain relief. This will enable the structure of our survival, but probably not the integrity of our whole self. While we may feel better, elements that are over- stressed will begin to fail to bear the load; be it emotional problems, physical health, mental health problems, or spiritual disillusion and depression.
When you use feelings as a standard of measure you will always gravitate towards what is familiar. As your vision is something new, i.e. not part of your current reality (and thus held as vision) then choosing the familiar to resolve tension will not serve the actualisation of the vision.
Vision is the inner crystalisation of the result you want to create. It must embrace all elements of your life. A vision must be so conceptually specific and tangible in your imagination that you would recognise it if it were to occur. Vision is not bound by the structure of your current reality and should not be limited by your belief in what is possible or not, based on what you have known before. Imagination is not limited by the known. Vision has power, for in vision you can easily reach beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary. If you honestly listen to all of the elements of your ‘whole’ in visioning, one thing is for sure; your vision will be very different from your current reality. The question then arises, how do I get from here (current reality) to there (vision)?
The discrepancy between current reality and vision creates another form of structural tension. To only focus on the process, the ‘how to’, will limit the actions available to you based on familiar strategies within your resources. This is because your attention is somewhere between current reality and the vision. Focusing on the process in this way will alleviate some of the tension, but will also limit the possibilities of what can be created. If you want something because you think it will lead to something else which you may desire, you are focusing on the process and not the vision. But it is equally detrimental to only focus on the vision. To ignore current reality would mean we are simply dreaming, always looking to what could be without changing what is. Therefore an honest, objective view of current reality is as important to actualising our vision as the vision is itself. And it takes practice to observe the facts of current reality objectively. Observing current reality as it is does not mean having a story about current circumstances.
When you create structural tension by observing current reality and simultaneously holding the vision, enormous energy and power are generated that serve a successful result, because the path of least resistance is to resolve the tension in the discrepancy between the two in favour of the vision. Then the discomfort experienced in holding the vision becomes the power to actualise it, as the only way that the tension between current reality and the vision can be reduced is by current reality moving towards the vision. As this is operative within natural energy law, the ‘how’ will present, because energy law demands that it will.
We are living in a time that demands change in the human collective. Rupert Sheldrake coined the term ‘morphogenetic field’, that became related to the collective human ‘Soul Field’. The individual soul is the singular element within the structure of the human collective (whole). To envision change that serves all of the elements of the whole, we must seek the vision resonant with our own soul that satisfies all elements of our individual structure. To actualise that vision we must honestly own our current reality without pretending it to be anything other than what it is. Since creativity and imagination are natural to human beings, it is unnatural to limit them the way most people have been trained to do. Let your vision be the most magnificent vision that your imagination can conceive, and then let natural energy law show you the way to its realisation. If you do not reduce your vision to be more like current reality, then the path of least resistance will present. It is energy law.
